I am currently an expatriate working for a major airline in the Middle East. I have seen the changes come into effect here, by reducing the practical training from 4 years down to 2 years only ends up with Engineers with poor hand skills and very little consolidation of theoretical training. There is no substitute for time and experience. To be given a short cut, will encourage overseas students to travel to Australia, but it may be at the cost of Australian Aviation reputation. Currently most of the multi national work force here, make comments about me like “very high standards” which seem quite surprising considering that it is all part of my original foundational learning having been equipped for most scenarios.
I would recommend caution!
