The Office of Airspace Regulation (OAR) sought industry feedback on the new broadcast area in the vicinity of Albany, Western Australia from 29 April to 15 May 2022.
In 2021 a broadcast area was established for a 40 nautical mile (NM) arc radius centred on Albany aerodrome to the coast, and then following the coastline-like boundary for with a minimum of 2 NM between the coastline and the broadcast area limit.
We requested feedback to understand if the broadcast area negatively impacted operations within the Albany area.

The responses received as part of this feedback were very succinct and agreed the broadcast area did not negatively impact operations within the Albany area.
We did
Each response was greatly appreciated. To ensure user understanding, the OAR undertook a number of seminars at various aerodrome and aircraft landing area locations between Albany to Esperance between 12-16 December 2022. Feedback from attendees was positive regarding the broadcast area at this early stage of implementation.
Feedback included that users have noted an increase in their situational awareness due to the broadcasts being made.
The OAR will continue to monitor the airspace around Albany, including the broadcast area, at regular intervals.

Overview
The Office of Airspace Regulation (OAR) is seeking industry feedback on the new broadcast area in the vicinity of Albany, Western Australia.
In 2021 a broadcast area was established for a 40 nautical mile (NM) arc centred on Albany to the coast, then following the coastline for 2NM.
The establishment of the broadcast area aimed to increase situational awareness for all operations in this area. It was implemented as a result of consultation and feedback from industry.
