Agricultural flying - Sector Safety Risk Profile survey

Closed 24 Nov 2024

Opened 24 Oct 2024

Overview

Civil Aviation Safety Authority, under section 9(1)(g) of the Civil Aviation Act 1988, has an obligation to identify, monitor and report trends and risk factors in the Australian Aviation System.

To enhance its capability to monitor trends and risk factors, CASA has recently reviewed the CASA Sector Safety Risk Profiling methodology to provide an enhanced strategic view of risks in a sector of the Australian aviation community. It provides CASA and the aviation community with the opportunity to work collaboratively to identify risk and treatment options.

CASA considers a sector as a homogenous group of operators conducting similar activities using similar aircraft types, with comparable organisations, environmental challenges, and operations. A Sector Safety Risk Profile (SSRP) identifies aviation safety issues, hazards and associated risks specific to each sector. The operational profile CASA is currently reviewing is ‘Agricultural Flying’.

The survey seeks your opinion regarding issues and hazards in the sector which may lead to increased risk. Your response will be aggregated and used to inform the SSRP activity.
