Tell us about the research and development operations you are interested in conducting
Question 1. What are some of the typical research and development (R&D) activities that you are conducting today and/or plan to conduct in the future?
Please include details such as:
flight test area
RPA/ aircraft weight and category
RPA/ aircraft speed
required operational height ceiling (altitude above ground level)
whether the activities need to be operated over certain locations including built up areas.
Comments
Question 2. What are the broad areas/topics that your R&D focus on?
For example:
autonomy
detect and avoid systems development or testing
uncrewed aircraft traffic management
radio signal integrity
human factors.
other (please detail in the comments section)
Comments
Question 3. What are the barriers posed by the current remote pilot licensing framework to the R&D operations you are interested in conducting?
Comments
Question 4. Where do you currently perform R&D operations?
For example:
farm paddock
council reserves
your own land.
other (please specify in the comments section)

Question 5. Do you currently perform R&D operations under a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator's Certificate (ReOC) without additional flight authorisations?
Comments
Question 6. Do you currently perform R&D operations under a ReOC but require certain flight authorisations? For example, beyond visual line of sight.
Comments
Question 7. Disregarding remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) weight and category considerations, do most of the R&D operations you are interested in conducting, generally fall within the standard RPA operating conditions (SOCs)?
Yes
No
If you have selected ‘no’, tell us which operations you are interested in conducting, that are outside the SOCs?
Question 8. Are logistical challenges a barrier to selecting benign areas for flight testing activities? For example, you need to be close to infrastructure to support the operation.
Yes
No
If you have selected ‘yes’, tell us what the logistical challenges are.
Question 9. Does value for money become an issue for flight testing activities (including for travel and set up time reasons)?
Yes
No
If you have selected ‘yes’, tell us about your experience.
