Change 7 – Replace IAP classifications to reflect updated Part 91 MOS changes

Policy Aim

Align the classifications for instrument approach procedures (IAP) used in the Part 121 Manual of Standards (MOS) with those specified in the Part 91 MOS. This alignment applies specifically to determination of IAP minima for extended diversion time operations (EDTO) en-route alternate (ERA) aerodromes.

Proposed Policy

We propose to amend Column 1 of Table 4.19 of the Part 121 MOS by replacing the existing descriptions of RNP APCH‑LNAV/VNAV, RNP APCH‑LPV and precision approach procedure with APV, NPA and PA. These are consequential amendments arising from the amendments to section 15.02 and 15.10 of the Part 91 MOS that occurred earlier in 2025.

The consequential amendment to Table 4.19 also incorporates permitting RNP AR APCH to be used as an IAP for the planning of EDTO ERA aerodrome minima.
