Change 4 – Permit alternate aerodrome minima to be no more restrictive than destination aerodrome minima

Policy Aim

The aim of the policy is to ensure that the ceiling or visibility minima at destination alternates and non-EDTO en-route alternate (ERA) are not more restrictive than the minima that would apply if those aerodromes were planned as a destination without an alternate.  

Proposed Policy

We propose to amend section 4.11 to clarify that a destination alternate aerodrome or an en-route alternate (ERA) aerodrome (non-EDTO) may be planned for use where the values established under section 4.11 are more restrictive than those that would otherwise apply if the aerodrome were planned as a destination aerodrome without a destination alternate.
