pilot maintenance records and certifications are usually poor or non existent, many maintenance organisations are lost in what they are actually allowed to do and thus try everything and fail to certify correctly what they have done, this leads following engineers to be blamed for issues created in the confusion of the current regulations
2. What kind of issues and/or challenges are you currently experiencing in regard to general aviation, and how have they impacted you?
Comments
training new lames is now extremely difficult, thus its not worth the effort, us older lames are getting older and there are far fewer young ones coming up, those that are don't really understand what they can or can't do by the regs
3. Can you think of any opportunities that would improve our regulatory system for general aviation maintenance? For example, ways to reduce costs and red tape while maintaining a high safety standard. Please provide detail.
Comments
revert back to the CAR30 regulations for general aviation, allow LAME to train under CAR 30 and then progress to 145 regulations on the job.
Benefits and limitations of international models
1. United States – FAA
a) What would you see as the main benefits in adopting the United States’ model for regulating general aviation maintenance? Please detail.
most aircraft are manufactured in the usa, makes sense to adopt the A&P method and be compatible with their system, a massive shortage of A&P in America
b) What could be some potential limitations if Australia adopted the United States’ model for regulating general aviation maintenance? Please detail.
no limitations
2. New Zealand – CAA
a) What would you see as the main benefits in adopting the New Zealand model for regulating general aviation maintenance? Please detail.
stay away from what the new Zealand model is
b) What could be some potential limitations if Australia adopted the New Zealand model for regulating general aviation maintenance? Please detail.
its kiwi, they will just harp on that its better and their idea. its the older style of doing maintenance prior to CAR 30 regs, its difficult to work on aircraft as they are all type rated
3. Europe
a) What would you see as the main benefits in adopting the European model for regulating general aviation maintenance? Please detail.
no benefits
b) What could be some potential limitations if Australia adopted the European model for regulating general aviation maintenance? Please detail.
look at the confusion we have now

3. Based on your experience working with international regulations, what do you consider to be the benefits of the maintenance regulations for general aviation in that country? Please detail.
Comments
the US system is the easiest to work under,
4. Based on your working experience in international regulations, what do you consider to be the limitations of the maintenance regulations for general aviation in that country? Please detail.
Comments
the us system is across the board, hands down better, no limitations, it hasn't been diluted by trying to be European. the New Zealand system is old and cantankerous and just as bad as ours
Final Comments
Do you have any further comments or feedback?
Comments
revert to CAR 30 regs for GA, we know how to do that or go the US system and be cross compatible
