Using weight to determine registration requirements can yeild vastly different results. also what constitutes weight? Is it the dry weight of the RPA? ie. no battery? what if i have a drone with 6 different battery sizes? I personally fly racing drones and the drone itself weighs 250g... however the battery will almost double the weight. Also if you take 2 different RPA's say a Mavic and a Racing Drone.... the power to weight ratio and speed of a racing drone far exceeds a Mavic even though it weighs less thereby increasing the risk!

Online training should absolutely be introduced but not be ageist... ie. flying RPA's is a hobby and many children enjoy flying them so training will need to be adjusted to suit the audience. Also how do you demonstrate proficiency without first flying the RPA? certain leeway must be given here

Should the introduction of geo-fencing be mandated?

Should CASA mandate the introduction of geo-fencing options to limit the operation of RPA in certain areas?

Geofencing software will not work in my drone and anyone else with a racing drone as we dont use GPS. For pilots competing in the international scene if you implement mandatory software it will consume processing power and increase the weight of the craft and inhibiting the competetiveness of the australian pilots

Are we doing enough of the right things?

I like the "can i fly there" app however where i live it is wrong and when i contacted the support team i recieved no feedback or response. implementing a more dedicated support program would be beneficial
