I personally have a remotely piloted aircraft licence and an a.r.o.c. and comply with CASR 101 and further AC 101-10 operating very small rpa specifically phantom 4's.I have operational manuals and procedures ready for submission to casa but have opted to operate commercially in the sub 2kg excluded category with 5 million dollars liability inclusive of hull insurance and premises liability.I am confident in my ability having 55hrs of logged flight time(internal flight training) and knowledge and understanding of above mentioned legislation governing myself and everyone else.Unfortunately i have seen many people that are enthusiasts of drones breaking the rules,e.g.flying over large crowds of people, way above 400ft agl and in the approach and departure paths of aerodromes, towered with atc or otherwise. The excluded category seems to have opened a can of worms that is out of control and needs to be amended or repealed.I feel it is compromising the integrity of legitimate operators myself included.

As mentioned,i myself have trained and have a licence for multi-rotor under 7 kgs,and also an a.r.o.c.These qualifications are essential to introduce people to the aviation industry and governing bodies and legislation,ESSENTIAL.

Should the introduction of geo-fencing be mandated?

Should CASA mandate the introduction of geo-fencing options to limit the operation of RPA in certain areas?

Please select one item
Yes
Ticked No
Please provide your comments:
Knowledge and training is the key.People who want to enter this industry must be able to use such things as Visual Terminal Charts,En-Route supplement Australia, access NAIPS to check Notams and so forth.Geo-fencing is a band-aid.

What should be done about 'counter-drone' technology?

Provide your views on the ways in which counter-drone technologies should be managed and in what circumstances they should be used.

management/scenarios for counter-drone tech
Its all in the training, knowledge is the key.If your Reoc allows it so be it,otherwise apply for exemptions or approvals if applicable.

Specify any particular aspects of counter-drone technology or its potential uses to which CASA should be devoting more attention.

CASA attention to c-d use
Focussing on how existing rpa pilots can if you like, dob in people that are breaking the rules beacause the general public has no idea generally and manned aircraft pilots generally have no idea either, due to not wanting or understanding specifically casr 101 and futher more ac 101-10.

Are we doing enough of the right things?

CASA seeks your view on the way in which we are approaching regulation of RPA in Australia today and for the future.

are we doing the right things?
Although i am operating in the excluded commercial category it maybe time to pull the pin on it,i would be only to happy to apply for a REOC using operational manuals and procedures.cheers.
