I understand the need based on recent history. I also understand the requirement that is required around pilots that wish to participate in activities such as mentioned. I believe that further investigation is required to fully understand the need for change. Clearly the aim is to keep the airways safer for all. But at what expense?
If we are changing this type of policy then where would we stop with others?
With safety in mind the 3 main areas to consider;
1. Maintenance ( would you get into a car with no brakes)
2. Training
a.) Night Requirements.
b.) Day Requirements.
c.) Passenger Psychology.
d.) Aircraft Recency.
3. Duty of Care (Human Factors)
We run the risk of individuals not working with organisations and just flying these people on their own accord just as a normal passengers. Then the issue because more wide spread rather than a single point of failure. The is particularly evident for remote communities.
Lastly, what are other organisations around the world doing for these type of flights i.e. FAA, EASA. I call again for further investigation and better understanding for the need to change and how that will increase serviceability to current organisations.
